Please check with us to see if we have any puppies available because I do not always list them here. Please check below. You need to know that all my pet puppies go on a spay/neuter contract. I also do not ever ship and prefer to place puppies in California when possible. Please make sure that your puppy comes from parents who have had their health testing done that is age appropriate. CERF, for eye problems, is every year and can be done as early as 6 month. BAER testing, for hearing, is a one time test. Patella's are done after they are one year old, only once at this point. Hips are done after they are two years old, only once. Other tests that can be done are for legg-calve-perthes, cardiology, elbows, bile acid and maybe thyroid. We always hope that healthy parents will produce healthy puppies but no one can be sure something won't crop up once in a while. If you don't health test how will you ever know, it is our only way to have knowledge for future generations. We are here to preserve the breed and breed to the standard, anyone can produce pet puppies but they should be working towards a common goal, healthy puppies that are bred to the Havanese standard. You will find that most pet puppies are between $1,500 and $2,000+ and if you are going to pay that much for a puppy the parents should have all their health testing and it should be posted at www.offa.org for all to see and share in the knowledge.
If you are in the Southern California area please email Robin Mosher at HavanaSilkDogs@aol.com, and her website is: www.chocolatesilkdogs.com/, if she doesn't have anything she can direct you to other show breeders in her area. There is a local club called Havanese Club of Southern California and you can access it by going to www.socalhavs.org and there you can find out about events you can attend to meet other Havanese owners and breeders in your area.
If you are in the middle of California, Bakersfield area, there is my friend Karen Pike at www.avivahavanese.com, who can hopefully help you out with information. There is also a breeder in San Jose, Kimberly, who is very knowledgeable, a great reference and occasionally has puppies available, please visit her website at www.havtahava.com. Also in the Bay Area you will find Mary and Rafe and their website is, http://www.latierrahavanese.com/.

If you are anywhere near Ontario, Canada you need to check with Rita Thomas, her website is http://www.sonrisashavanese.ca/.
The more information you have the more equipped you are to purchase your new puppy. Remember that most people will charge the same as a breeder who does their health testing and posts it to www.offa.org so why pay the same price and get a puppy from someone who might not have the best interest of the breed in mind.
If you are inquiring regarding a puppy please contact me at elaineshavs@gmail.com and send me where you live and information about your family and yourself plus what personality you are looking for in your puppy, be it active or calm.
